Security Tips & Advice

Motion and light detection switches not only save money, but can be useful security device too.

Lighting – do you save money or focus on security?

It used to be that business owners had to make a decision, do I turn off the lights when my premises are empty or leave them on so people think there is still someone there? A dark building with an empty car park is a magnet to those looking for trouble or easy pickings, and many businesses choose the middle ground, using timer switches to turn lights on and off. But there is now a better alternative.

With many new, efficient lighting systems now on the market, businesses can turn lights off automatically both in daylight and when there is no-one in the room. Motion and light detection switches not only save money, but can be useful security device too. Having lights come on when someone enters an area shows passers-by, who may have been alerted by an alarm, that there is someone on the premises. This makes it more likely that they will call the police rather than assume it is a false alarm.

It also means that intruders can be seen much more clearly by security cameras and highlighted to a monitoring station. At Evensure, we recommend using automatic lighting along with our Event Driven CCTV Monitoring solution. This allows our Communications Centre to talk to intruders while watching them on CCTV, telling them they are being monitored and recorded and that our mobile patrol and the police are on their way, and reducing the chance of theft or damage. Call us to talk about Remote CCTV Monitoring or any other security issue on 01483 456730 and we will undertake a completely free security review for you.
